Acquisitions Department

Organization
The department is under the direction of the Head of the Acquisitions Department who reports to the Dean of Libraries. There are four principal divisions of responsibility:
  1. firm order division which establishes bibliographic integrity, selects vendors, and prepares purchase orders;
  2. receiving division which is responsible for the proper identification of, initial accounting for, and processing of materials received on firm orders;
  3. standing order division which places, monitors, and receives non-periodical continuations; and
  4. gift division which receives and accounts for non-periodical gifts.

Student assistants are employed to provide support in all areas of the department. A departmental organization chart is kept updated as are job descriptions for all employees.
