Database Quality
Members of the Cataloging Department of the University of Memphis Libraries and its online public access catalog partners, Jackson State Community College, Dyersburg State Community College, and LeMoyne-Owen College are committed to a common goal of producing bibliographic database entries of high quality that meet current national standards. Each week time is spent updating and correcting entries for personal names, corporate names, uniform titles, subjects, and series. Below is a record of significant entries that have been changed in recent months.
    Subjects
  • African American has replaced Afro-American in most all headings and subheadings
  • Persons with disabilities has been updated from Handicapped in most headings
  • World War, 1914-1918 has been updated from European War, 1914-1918, with various subdivisions (484 entries)
