Apropos of the sixtieth anniversary in 2005 of the end of the Second World War, scholars from a variety of fields configured as a panel will discuss the impact of the War as reflected in contemporary Europe and America. The panel features:
Dr. Joseph M. Hawes, Moderator, Professor of History, the University of Memphis
Dr. Frank M. Buscher, Dean, School of Arts, Christian Brothers University
Dr. Nele Hempel, Associate Professor of Foreign Languages and Director of Women's Studies, the University of Memphis
Dr. H. Pierre Secher, Professor Emeritus, Political Science, the University of Memphis
The panel will bring a variety of perspectives based upon experience in both Europe and America upon the matter of the impact of World War II on contemporary society and individual lives. This is the first program in a three-part series dealing with the impact of World War II in this sixtieth anniversary year.
