Poetry Workshop

"Read your poem. Get advice. Poetry happens."

McWherter Library, Room 226
April 27, 12:30 pm- 1:30 pm

Originally from Massachusetts, Mary Golias holds a BFA from Emerson College and a certification in teaching English and ESL. She is working on an MFA degree at the University of Memphis and has taught Composition, Poetry Workshops and Literature as well as ESL.

Her work has appeared in Oyez Review, Red Brick Review and the Peralta Press Journal. Recently she was awarded a John Woods Scholarship to attend the Prague Summer Seminar.

She will introduce herself with a short original poem and then focus on your poetry. Participants are encouraged to discuss, read and alter samples of poems with Mary Golias. During the workshop there will also be a discussion on how to fight a common condition called "writer's block". Mary Golias will provide guidance for emerging writers of poetry. Try not to miss this opportunity to better your creative writing skills!

The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

For more information, contact Tom Mendina at 678-4310 or Kay Kroboth at 678-2209.
