The University Libraries honors black history and culture during Black History Month 2008 with four programs beginning at 1 p.m. on all the Tuesdays of the month.
"The Mis-Education of the Negro."
Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 1:00 p.m., Rotunda
This is a Readings in the Rotunda program from the volume by Carter G. Woodson, "The Mis-Education of the Negro." The title of Woodson's volume is the national theme of Black History Month 2008. The local sub-theme is "From Shackles to Scholars."
Readers-commentators will be: Drs. Ladrica Menson-Furr of the U of M Department of English; Sharon Tabachnick, Head of Instructional Services, University Libraries; Charles Williams of the Department of Anthropology, U of M; and Jim Johnson of the U of M History Department.
Moderators of the program will be Mr. Terrance Stevenson and Ms. Alexandria Jackson, U of M Students with the assistance of Mr. Tom Mendina, Assistant to the Dean of University Libraries.
