    A guide to free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals in all subjects and languages. Coverage: varies.

    DOI Resovler
    DOIs (digital object identifiers) are found more and more in connection with scholarly articles available online. These strings of code are permanently affixed to articles so that, regardless of how web-sites and URLS may change, articles on the web will remain findable. Use the DOI Resolver to locate articles for which you have a DOI. Type (or copy and paste) the code into the Resolver's search box, and you will be directed to the source of the article. Access to the article depends on institutional subscription rights. DOIs may look like 10.1016/j.physletb.2003.10.071 or 10.1037/0012-1649.43.1.70; however they look they contain information that identifies the article as a unique object. For the reverse, see: CrossRef.

    DRAM: Database of Recorded American Music
    Search or browse recordings by American composers and artists--streaming audio files, liner notes and essays available. Users will need to select "Log In", then click the gray button at the top of a "Where Are You From" page to access DRAM. They may then need to click through several screens (or the screens may pass by) - this has to do with the authentication system at NYU. After the first visit, users should not have to perform this extra step.

    EBSCO Host Research Databases

    Part of the Gale Virtual Reference Library. Contains general essays that historically trace the major religious groups and traditions. Also includes directory listings with contact and descriptive information on individual religious bodies.

    English Short Title Catalog (ESTC)
    Biblographic records with locations for books printed in the British Isles, Colonial America, the United States of America (before 1800), Canada, or territories governed by Britain, in all languages, plus anything printed in English anywhere else in the world.     PATENTS
    Part of LexisNexis Academic. Includes utility, design, and plant patents, U.S. patents (1790-present), European patents (1978-present), and the Patent Abstracts of Japan (1976-present). The European Patents include all patents granted since the opening of the European Patent Office. Each record includes the title, class, dates, names of inventors, applicants, and attorneys, and the status of the patent. Full text is included when provided. Published but unexamined patents ("A" documents) are available from 1986-present with full text in the original language (French, German, or English) with English abstracts. Granted, examined patents ("B" documents) are available from 1991 in English, German and French.
    The Patent Abstracts of Japan provide English language bibliographic data and short summaries of Japanese patents; one main drawing is also included when available after 1980. Patents from non-Japanese applicants are excluded. Be aware that there is a 4-month lag between a patents appearance in the Japanese Patent Office Gazette and its availability in the database.
    NOTE: LexisNexis links to an external patent provider (REEDFAX) for pdfs versions of the patents; there are charges for pdfs.
