Use tomCat (the U of M Library
catalog).
For subject searches, use Library of Congress Subject Headings such as urban anthropology or human evolution or man, primitive. (LC Subject Headings volumes are available in Reference.)
Also try searching by keywords such as paleoanthropology or american indians religion . (Leave out words like in, of, on, and the; AND is assumed between words).
Locate video tapes by using the word videorecording as a keyword.

Copy the call number from the catalog record to find the book. (See How to Find Books.)
netLibrary [UM Only] A collection of over 46,000 electronic books in various disciplines. Some of these items may be available in print as well as electronically.

CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health, 1982- ) [UM Only] Covers nursing, allied health, biomedical and consumer health journals, publications of the American Nursing Association, and the National League for Nursing.
ClasePeriodica [UM Only] Index to citations from 2,600 Latin American journals on humanities, social science, science, and technology topics. Includes articles, technical reports, essays, reviews, conference proceedings and brief notes written in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English.
Contemporary Women's Issues [UM Only] Provides full text access to global information on women. Journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, along with fact sheets are easily accessed through CWI. Information on women in over 150 countries is compiled in a single collection bringing together such disciplines as sociology, psychology, health, education and human rights.
Daily Life through History [UM Only] Emphasizes how ordinary citizens lived during 10 frequently studied historical periods.

Indexes thousands of topics in the field of education. Includes journal articles, books, theses, curriculi, conference papers, standards and guidelines. (The U of M subscribes to ERIC microfiche.) Coverage: 1966-.
General Science Full Text Indexes periodicals in astronomy, atmospheric science, biology, botany, chemistry, conservation, earth science, environment, food & nutrition, genetics, health & medicine, mathematics, microbiology, oceanography, and physics.
HarpWeek [UM Only] HarpWeek: The Civil War Era (1857-1865) consists of the complete text, advertisements, and illustrations of Harper's Weekly. An important source for scholars of American History, Civil War history, women's lives and gender studies, literary genres including drama, verse, first person narratives, almanacs.
Health and Wellness Resource Center [UM Only] Topics in health and medicine, medications, and wellness. Includes such reference sources as encyclopedias, directories, medical dictionary, magazines, journals, and newspapers.
Health Reference Center -- Academic [UM Only] Use this database to find articles on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, HMOs, Prescription Drugs, etc.
Humanities Full Text (citations, abstracts, full text).[UM Only]
Indexes periodicals in archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music, the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Coverage: citations & abstracts, 1984- ; full text, 1995-
In the First Person: An Index to Letters, Diaries, Oral Histories, and Personal Narratives [Open Access] Provides citations to oral histories, letters, diaries, autobiographies, and other personal narratives.
JSTOR (full text archive) [UM Only] Stores and indexes five anthropology journals older than six years, including Current Anthropology. All articles are full text in PDF format.
Medline (medicine and health journals, books, 1966-) [UM Only] Provides citations to journals in the biomedical sciences, including medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, preclinical sciences, and health care. Abstracts available for most citations. Coverage: 1966-.
MLA International Bibliography (periodicals and books chapters, 1963 - ) [UM Only] Indexes 4,000 periodicals covering literature, languages, linguistics, and folklore.
Project Muse (Full-text) [UM Only] Provides electronic full text of more than 200 scholarly journals in arts and humanities, social sciences, and mathematics.
PubMed (medical journals, mid-1980's-) [Open Access] A service of the National Center for Biotechnological Information (NCBI) and the National Library of Medicine, providing access to the MEDLINE database along with OLDMEDLINE, Pre-MEDLINE (citations in-process), and citations outside the scope of MEDLINE provided by journal publishers. Interconnects with other NCBI databases and resources. Coverage: MEDLINE, 1966-; OLDMEDLINE, 1951-.
