Contains pictures and information about the 10 Most Wanted List. Accounts of notorious historical criminals such as Bonnie and Clyde, John Dillinger, and Al Capone. Also contains press releases and statistics. The complete Uniform Crime Reports (since 1995), Hate Crime Report, and the Preliminary 1998 Uniform Crime Report. The Uniform Crime Report is in .pdf file format and loads extremely slowly on the Web. The publications are available in the Government Publications, either in paper or CD. The National Institute of Justice Excellent site containing a wide variety of information pertaining to criminal justice. The site has its own search mechanism and provides many lengthy executive summaries of documents. Documents may contain current statistics. The National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts Database This searchable NCJRS Abstracts Database contains summaries of more than 140,000 criminal justice publications, including Federal, State, and local government reports, books, research reports, journal articles, and unpublished research. There are a variety of search options available. Bureau of Justice Statistics Direct link to the producer of most criminal justice statistics in the U.S. Contains many full-text publications. Also, 650 files from The Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics, 1996 are available from a link at this site. The 1997 edition of The Sourcebook will be loaded after its publication date of Summer 1998. The Federal Bureau of Prisons Contains some statistics about the prison system as well as brief profiles of all prisons in the federal system.
