TYPES OF PUBLICATIONS IN LEGISLATIVE HISTORIES

Thomas is the website for the Library of Congress which will allow searching of bills, laws, and hearings going back to the 101st Congress (1989 - ).

Congressional Universe Searches all Congressional publications, testimonies, and legislative histories going back to 1989.

Hearings are testimony given, pro and con, on a particular bill or issue before a Congressional committee.

Committee Prints are CRS research reports containing background information or an overview. Provided for Congressional committee members.

Reports are recommendations by committees on passage of a bill. Important in legislative histories for intent of law.

Documents are communications from the Executive Branch.

American Nurses Association The ANA's legislative branch webpage monitoring current federal and state legislation.
