County Business Patterns Bureau of the Census
The Census Bureau site has 1993 - 1997 data to the 4 digit SIC code. Information includes employment and payroll data for the U.S., states, and counties. The University of Virginia
site has data from 1977 to 1995 by two-digit SIC codes. County Business Patterns, 1964 to 1995 is available in print in the Government Publications Department. Also available on CD-ROM in the Government Publications Department
