You must present your library-issued Special Privilege Card to check out materials, including Reserves or Recordings for use in the library. We will also ask to see a photo ID, such as a driver's license. You must use your own card, not a borrowed one. Special Privilege Cards are issued to library users in various groups. You may show a photo ID, such as a driver's license, and complete a form which is available at the McWherter Library Circulation Department.
Students and faculty from specified reciprocal institutions must present their institutional ID when submitting an application. Rhodes, CBU, Ole Miss, and Southwest Tennessee State Community College are all on the list. Check with the Circulation Department for the current list.
High School students must have a parent or guardian and high school librarian sign the form.

FINES and FEES

The information below applies to all of the U of M Libraries system. All Libraries billing is handled centrally. If you have questions about a bill you

General Circulation Materials

Effective July 1, 2005 the overdue fine for books is $.25 per day.

Overdue fines for most items accrue at the rate of $.25 per day up to 30 days, for a maximum $7.50 fine.
After 30 days, an item is assumed lost. A nonrefundable $10.00 processing fee AND the replacement cost are added for each item.
If the item is returned after 30 days, the replacement cost is deducted. The total due is $17.50 per item ($7.50 fine plus $10.00 processing fee).

Reserve and Other Limited Checkout Materials
Overdue fines for CD's accrue at the rate of $.50 per day, to a maximum $15.00 fine.
Fines for Overnight, 24 Hour, 3 Day, and 7 Day Reserve items accrue at $1.00 per day, to a maximum $12.00 fine.
Fines for 2 Hour Reserve items accrue at a rate of $1.00 per hour or portion of an hour, to a maximum $12.00 fine.
Fines for circulating videos and DVD's accrue at $5.00 per day, to a maximum $50.00 fine per item.
Recalled Materials
Fines for recalled items accrue at $1.00 per day or portion of a day, to a maximum $12.00 fine.
